Blog week 9
This has been a stressful week, we have been working on some of our website's biggest tech difficulties. We tried to seek help from piazza and tutor, which is useful but not as efficient. This made us realised that our own knowledge storage is far from enough. This is our basic home page structure, which is quite successfully implemented.
We have already worked out the photography database and we still need to work on the other three databases.
We made the info-window worked! This has been the hardest part of the whole website and it took me four hours to make it work. Together with the help from tutor, we successfully retrieved data from databases and stored them in local storage, which is printed in console to double-prove its success-retrieve. Later, we were working on the accurate display of each info tuple in terms of each info dot point. However, we can't make it working (it only shows one specific tuple even if we click on other dot points), and our tutor got stuck there as well.
This is the data that has been retrieved from the database.
When we were cooperating on bitbucket, with source tree as the local drive. We met some sync issue which drove us into an even awkward situation. I and Oscar did the same thing on the coding side and we settled down to look into the sync issue after we finished our contact session.
The assessment for our project part B wasn't as good as we thought it should be (although the results are not out yet). We forgot to upload it to the cloud and we got marked down for this easy mark (extremely irritating to me). Nobody even noticed that requirements, and i suppose i am also to be blame.
Reflection:
We need a more engaging cooperation environment, even though we have been making progress in this part. We divided out group into two parts, coding part and file part. This method works just fine, which is good.
However, on my side (coding side), i seem to be the only guy who knows how to do the core coding like retrieving data from data. And i have to go to tutor if i met any difficulties as none of my teammates know coding better than me. I was seriously stressed out before the assessment date. But hopefully, i made it through successfully. Although the website is still at quite basic development level, we made it through the assessment successfully (i have to accept that we won't be the greatest).
For future coding, we will distribute work better in our coding team and try to get through the difficulties with cooperation.
