Blog week 8 Starting to construct our website I firstly created the framework of html and decorated it with css and javascript with google map API integrated in it When i got to the contact session, i surprisingly found that ... my teammate did the same thing as i did. AND we decided to improve our team work efficiency -- use online development platform We chose bitbucket as our platform provider, mainly because it's used by one of our teammates and the tutor suggested it as well. It really is so hard to start using the platform. It took us the whole two hours to establish the file structure on the platform. At first we argued if we should waste time establish the platform, because by distributing job to different people we can totally work out as well. But by the end, we chose this modern way of development because we believe this is what we will be using in the future anyway, and this experience can contribute to our skill sets. And we used Source Tree as our loc...
Blog week 7 This week we got the feedback from Major Project Part A It was actually pretty bad. We are one of the worst groups but my teammates don't seem to care much about it, but i do, which means that i'll probably be the one who do the whole job. Sounds challenging but i'd like to have a go. It's really good for improving my skills and now it sort of pushed me to develop them. Get rid of those lazy shit, get started. In this week's contact session, we analysed the feedback and i put them into a new file, to remind me of not doing it again. Then, we had a discussion about what our MVP (minimal viable product) is. And we set milestones for our key functions and set missions to do for the whole project. Feedback Understand of audience -- specification -- need in-depth analysis More references -- need more support Citation style -- not professional enough -- need to check referencing guides Analysis: From this feedback we know that we need to ch...

Blog week 6 This week we did paper-prototyping, which is one important step in designing. Our group did fairly simple and intuitive web design approach, and users being tested were pretty much all successfully finished our initial tasks. There is one thing that we found that was being designed extremely inappropriate -- the zoom-in button, which confused most of our testing users. We decided to withdraw the zoom-in button and pick a more intuitive way -- scrolling the mouse (or google map default) and we have a scale bar showing which level the user is (country/state/city). Following are the photos of our paper-prototyping web pages: and what i did is the detail info page of four different topics (last two pictures) Below are the photos taken from our paper-prototyping process -- pretty much the record we did when interviewing testing users: First picture is the initial tasks we designed for user to test The rest are the feedback we have got REFLEC...
